Soul Surfer distribution company, division of Sony Pictures Entertainment, Affirm Films has posted on their Facebook wall, “Have you heard about Soul Surfer yet? Hmmm? We’re in the final days of editing… and can’t wait to see this project roll out like a monster wave.”

In the meantime, I have another movie coming out called Soul Surfer. I was hoping they were going to open it in November, but I don’t know; now I’m hearing it might be an Easter movie, just because Sony wants to make sure everything is perfect. They’re very excited about this; it has Dennis Quaid, Helen Hunt, Carrie Underwood and AnnaSophia Robb, and it’s based on the life of Bethany Hamilton, the teen sensation who, at 13, lost her arm to a tiger shark. It’s a wonderful script, and Sony already has 3,000 screens committed to it.
Soul Surfer is said to be distributed by Sony Pictures division Affirm Films.

The website for the movie in which AnnaSophia Robb plays Bethany Hamilton, Soul Surfer, has been updated. The website no longer features a gallery of 20 pictures from the set, and now has links to the Soul Surfer Facebook page and Twitter account.

Baptist Press published an article about Soul Surfer with quotations of Bethany Hamilton and AnnaSophia Robb. The following is an excerpt from said article:
16-year-old AnnaSophia (a native of Denver, Colo., who was taught to surf by Bethany), said in a recent interview: “Personality wise, we’re a little different. She’s definitely more ‘chill’ than I am — part of that whole surfer vibe. But we are similar in a lot of ways. We’re both very determined. We both have strong goals. Faith is a big part of our lives. And we both have fantastic families.”
When asked what she hopes people will take away from this movie experience, Ms. Robb told the Christian press, “I know this is the obvious answer, but I hope they’ll be inspired. It’s a story about faith and perseverance. And while Bethany is amazing, she’s still this everyday person. Hanging out with her, she’s just Bethany. I’m hoping people will realize they can do anything, too. Because she did it.”
The article also says that Soul Surfer is “slated for a Spring 2011 release”.
