CW Orders Five Pilots for ‘Carrie Diaries’

According E! news, CW has officially announced they are picking up five pilots to series, including Arrow, Carrie Diaries and Cult!

Starring Anna Sophia Robb and Austin Butler, The Carrie Diaries introduces Sex and the City fans to their beloved heroine back in 1984, when she was a 16-year-old just learning how to navigate life after their death of her mother. Viewers can expect to see Carrie first fall in love with fashion and New York City in the project from Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage.

“The Carrie Diaries” star AnnaSophia Robb won’t be getting any tips on playing the beloved character from the original Carrie Bradshaw.

“I would never give advice. No, no, no,” Sarah Jessica Parker told Jill at Tuesday’s Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

“It’s like someone giving romance advice or parenting advice,” the actress continued. “It’s such a unique experience, playing a part and I’m sure they found someone wonderful.”

But does Sarah Jessica think seeing a younger version of Carrie on the small screen will be fun?

“I wasn’t part of it in any way, so I don’t know,” she said. “I’m sure it will be, definitely.”

In September 2011, the actress spoke to Access about the “Sex and The City” prequel.

“I think it’s wonderful that people want to hear Carrie’s story, and I understand,” the actress told Access at the time. “Peter Roth, [President of Warner Bros. TV,] is smart and wonderful and funny and I’m sure it will be in excellent hands.”

Carrell and Collette have both signed on to star in The Way, Way Back. Just like the last time the two worked together, the actors will be surrounded by talent, as Sam Rockwell, Allison Janney and Annasophia Robb are all already signed on. Set over the course of a summer vacation, the movie centers on a young boy who must learn to deal with a “unattentive mother and cheating stepfather.” The two new actors will be playing the parental roles and Carrel’s character description is a real winner, described as a fan of booze, drugs and women.

While both Faxon and Rash are best known as actors – particularly Rash, who plays the ridiculous and amazing Dean Pelton on NBC’s Community – they nabbed Oscar gold a few months ago when their adaptation of The Descendants, which they wrote with Alexander Payne, was rewarded with the Best Adapted Screenplay Academy Award.
